Park Manager

Selectee serves as the senior management official as Park Manager (Superintendent) at Saratoga National Historical Park and has managerial responsibility for Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. As the principal line officer, the selectee serves as the focal point at SARA for providing leadership, motivation, direction, and decisions required to implement and carry out management within an organization containing a variety of resources. Due to the complexity presented by the legislative mandate, the selectee is responsible for navigating their supervisory and management responsibilities. Major duties included but are not limited to:
Supervision Business Acumen and Asset Management (Financial, Donated Funds, Asset Management, Energy Conservation/Sustainability) Natural Resource Stewardship Cultural Resource Stewardship Park Operations (Visitor Experience/Education, Protection) Protection Civic Engagement, Communications (Congressional, Tribal, State/Local/other Federal entities, Communities/Partners/Private Landowners) All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/03/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either full-time (or 40 hours a week) or part-time with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
I have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled. Examples of qualifying specialized experience includes, but is not limited to:
managing, or performing substantial specialized work in a park or similar park and land unit program, in natural and/or cultural resource management, concessions and land management, recreation management, interpretation, law enforcement involving the protection of natural and/or cultural resources, all aspects of administration, construction and maintenance, or other related work. Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
